Universal Laser Engraver Enclosure V3 – Control Smoke & Fumes for a Safer Workspace

Universal Laser Engraver Enclosure V3 – Control Smoke & Fumes for a Safer Workspace

The Universal Laser Engraver Enclosure V3 by Clearview Plastics is a made-to-fit safety and ventilation upgrade for the most popular desktop diode laser engravers — the 400 × 400 mm-class machines that dominate the maker world. Compatible with dozens of the top diode engravers — ATEZR, iKier, ACMER, AtomStack, OMTECH, Laser Pecker, Algolaser and more — it's the enclosure built to protect your machine, contain its smoke, and fit the way you actually work.

Designed and CNC-cut in the USA, this "set-over" tabletop enclosure drops right over your engraver and holds it in a sealed working envelope. It has a 750 x 755 x 405 mm (29.5" x 29.75" x 16") external footprint and is framed in rigid 2020 aluminum extrusion, leaving an internal working area of roughly 740 x 745 mm with about 400 mm (15.75") of height — room for the gantry, the rotary, and a tumbler. Every machine on our compatibility list fits this one universal size. It assembles in minutes with a screwdriver and Allen key, requires zero modification to your machine, and comes ready for the camera, lighting, and exhaust accessories that turn a bare frame into a professional workstation.

Built for 400 × 400 mm diode lasers

The 400 × 400 mm work area is the sweet spot of desktop laser engraving — and the Universal V3 is sized and vented for the machines that use it, including:

  • ATEZR V-series & P-series
  • iKier K1 Pro / Ultra and X5 Pro
  • ACMER P2
  • AtomStack A30 Pro, S10 Pro & X70 Pro
  • OMTECH LIGHT B10
  • Laser Pecker LX1
  • Algolaser Delta & Alpha series
  • Most other diode engravers with an approximate 400 × 400 mm work area

Every machine on this list fits the Universal V3 — one size built around the 400 × 400 footprint, and the machine-specific versions are the exact same enclosure. Not sure whether your model qualifies? Send us your frame dimensions and we'll confirm the fit before you buy — no guesswork.

Protect your engraver and your shop

Running a laser open on a bench is the fastest way to foul your shop and shorten your machine's life. Every pass lays down a fine soot that settles on rails, lenses, and electronics, while smoke and fumes drift straight into the room you're standing in. The Universal V3 wraps your machine in commercial-grade 1/4" (6 mm) panels that keep debris off your engraver, contain the plume at the source, and give you a clean, controlled environment every time you fire the beam. It's the difference between a machine that looks new in three years and one that doesn't.

Deploys fast and works with your workflow

This enclosure was engineered around how diode owners actually run jobs — not just to be a box:

  • Quick to deploy — no part swaps or permanent modifications. A screwdriver and Allen key are all you need, and the set-over design means you can lift it off for maintenance or transport.
  • LightBurn-compatible hood camera — an optional USB camera mounts to the lid for accurate part alignment and LightBurn tracing without opening the enclosure.
  • Rotary-ready — about 15.75" (400 mm) of internal height clears the rotary and an articulated laser head, with room for objects up to an 80 mm tumbler or glass.
  • Adjustable airflow vents — offer control over airflow volume and direction for cleaner, more efficient extraction.
  • 3 wire grommet ports — feed in wires, air-assist tubing, and anything else that needs to pass into the enclosure.
  • Dual access doors — magnetically latched front and top doors make loading and adjustments easy.

Contain the smoke, soot, and glare

Diode lasers operate around 445–450 nm and are rated Class 4 — the highest laser hazard class. Cutting and engraving wood, acrylic, leather, painted, stained, or sealed materials releases smoke and fine particulate you don't want to breathe. The Universal V3 gives you real containment:

  • Two 4" exhaust ports — select which side vents to best suit your workspace, connect a flexible 4" hose, and route smoke and fumes out a window or to a filter. Pair it with a 95 CFM or 200 CFM fan, our window exhaust kit, or PrintPRO 3 filtration for the level of extraction you need.
  • Adjustable airflow vents — fine-tune airflow volume and direction for efficient source capture.
  • BOFA PrintPRO 3 compatible — integrate a professional fume-filtration system for indoor operation without external venting.
  • Optional amber laser-filtering panels — spectrometer-tested to block up to 99.8% of light transmission at 450 nm (OD3+ filtering up to 520 nm), dramatically cutting the harsh blue flash for a far more comfortable work area.

Important: the laser-filtering panels reduce indirect glare but are not a certified laser-safety window and do not reclassify your Class 4 laser. Always wear OD-rated safety glasses for your wavelength (e.g. OD5+ for 450 nm diodes) while the laser is in use. Need an enclosure that meets ANSI guidelines? Contact us directly.

Configure your kit

  • Panels & hardware — precision CNC-cut 1/4" panels in clear or optional amber laser-filtering acrylic, plus rust-resistant hardware.

Frequently asked questions

Will my 400 × 400 diode laser fit?
The enclosure has a 750 mm W x 755 mm D x 405 mm H external footprint, leaving roughly 740 x 745 mm and about 400 mm of height inside the frame — sized for machines with an approximate 400 × 400 mm work area. Every machine on our compatibility list fits, including ATEZR, iKier K1/X5, ACMER P2, AtomStack A30/S10/X70 Pro, OMTECH B10, Laser Pecker LX1, and the Algolaser Delta/Alpha series. If your model isn't listed, send us your machine's frame dimensions and we'll confirm fit before you order.

Do the laser-filtering panels mean I don't need safety glasses?
No. The amber panels filter light at the wavelength diode lasers operate at and greatly reduce indirect glare, but they are not a certified laser-viewing window. Always wear appropriate OD-rated safety glasses (e.g. OD5+ for 450 nm) whenever the laser is running.

Does this enclosure comply with ANSI Z136.1?
No. This enclosure is designed for fume containment and glare reduction, not to reduce a Class 4 laser to Class 1. Follow all Class 4 laser safety protocols. If you need an enclosure that meets ANSI guidelines, contact us directly.

Does it have an exhaust port for smoke and fumes?
Yes. The enclosure includes a 4" exhaust port to connect a flexible 4" hose and vent outside. From there, add the fan setup that fits your workload: a 95 CFM exhaust fan (includes the mounting bracket) for light-duty use, a 200 CFM compact fan for added air circulation, or our window exhaust kit — an inline fan, window insert, and 16 feet of hose. If venting outside isn't possible, add a BOFA PrintPRO 3 filtration unit to clean the air indoors.

Is there room for a rotary?
Yes. The internal height (about 400 mm / 15.75") clears the rotary and a fully articulated laser head, with enough room to engrave objects up to an 80 mm glass or tumbler.

What's included, and what do I supply?
The base kit includes acrylic panels and hardware; you print the brackets from the included files. Add our pre-printed parts for a complete kit. In all cases you supply a 4" dryer hose, and for heavy use we recommend adding an inline exhaust fan.

Do you ship internationally?
Yes. Shipping is calculated at checkout via USPS/UPS/FedEx (HS code 8538.10). Express services often cover import fees, but additional VAT, tariffs, or fees may apply depending on your country.

What is your return policy?
We offer a 30-day return policy. Unused, undamaged panels with the masking fully attached are eligible for a full refund less return shipping. If panels are damaged after shipment or the protective mask has been removed, we can't offer a refund. To check fitment, consider partially assembling with the mask still on — if it isn't for you, you're still eligible for a full refund.

Why do the product photos vary slightly?
We update and improve our enclosures often, and as a small business a fresh photoshoot for every iteration isn't realistic. Function is always constant or improved. For the clearest picture of the current version, rely on the renderings rather than the photos.
